Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry dedicated to eradicating substandard housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes. Families who receive Habitat homes are truly getting a "hand up," not a "handout." In addition to making monthly payments on a no-profit, no-interest mortgage, each family is expected to contribute 500 hours of sweat equity working alongside Habitat volunteers. Habitat homes are affordable for low-income families largely because volunteers keep construction costs down.
