Love in Action Homeless Ministry

Love in Action is Christ Church's feeding ministry for the chronic homeless. Every Thursday afternoon a team of approximately ten volunteers gathers in our Fort Lauderdale kitchen to cook a hot meal of meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, a cookie, coffee and juice, and a sandwich. The meals are then delivered to Hope Central on Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. At Hope Central, another team of volunteers serves nearly 200 homeless individuals and families. They are treated as guests to a full-course, sit-down meal.

Every Thursday this team shares God's love through their actions and words. Families are encouraged to serve one Thursday a month. Bicycles are refurbished and repaired to provide easier transportation. Free haircuts are offered to the Love in Action guests. The ministry also coordinates with other providers around Broward County to provide an opportunity to obtain shelter, bus passes, clothing, and other services.
