Ministry to Homeless FamiliesBeing homeless can be devastating, especially for parents who must endure the heartache of not having a safe place to sleep, eat, and care for their children. Hundreds of families call the The Shepherd's Way is a Christian ministry started through Christ Church in 1995. The Shepherd's Way is the largest provider of housing for homeless families in Broward County. Homeless families are provided housing at Paul's Place Apartments in Wilton Manors. There are currently 11 apartments at Paul's Place, and families stay an average of 6 months. Parents are provided with support, encouragement, and mentoring in a loving, Christian environment. Children attend school and have access to children's programs through Christ Church.
The Shepherd's Way also facilitates temporary housing for families through Faith in Action, where families are housed in local churches one week at a time until room becomes available at an emergency housing agency. Many of the Faith in Action families are eventually housed at Paul's Place Apartments. For more information on Faith in Action, please click here.
There are multiple serving opportunities, including helping at the Thrift Store, helping at the food pantry, leading life skills and parenting classes, cleaning up around the property, and many more.
