Frequently Asked QuestionsWe want you to have all the information you need to participate fully in SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend. Some of the most frequently asked questions are answered below. If your question isn't addressed, please let us know!
Can my family or Wesley Group sign up to work together?
Do I have to be a member of Christ Church to participate in SERVE.EVERYBODY.? Can I continue to serve after SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend? If you are interested in being a part of the advance planning team, or a project team leader, please contact the SERVE.EVERYBODY. leader for 2011, Dick Francis by email or at 954.775.5052.
About two months before the SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend, you can sign up online by clicking the description of the serve opportunity that most interests you. Type in the information, print the screen for your records and submit the page. Keep your printed sign up page to remind you where and when you are serving. You can also sign up at church after church services, but we encourage everyone to sign up online if possible.
What does it mean that a service project is "FULL?"
Most projects can accommodate a certain number of people. Too many people signed up for one project will make it difficult to perform the project, or there won't be enough work for everybody who wants to work. Once the maximum number of volunteers needed is reached, a project is considered "FULL." Will there be a waiting list for projects? No, but check back frequently to see if a project re-opens.
Can my family or Wesley Group sign up to work together?
Yes, but each person must be signed up individually. Once an activity is full, no further sign ups will be permitted. Check back frequently to see if a project re-opens. Can my children participate in SERVE.EVERYBODY.?
Yes, most projects are open to children over the age of 6. Check the project description for minimum ages. Children must be signed up and parents must sign and bring a Release for Minor’s for their children. Do I have to be a member of Christ Church to participate in SERVE.EVERYBODY.?
No. We encourage participation by anybody who has a heart willing to serve. We encourage church members to invite friends, family and neighbors to participate. Is there childcare available? There is childcare on the Fort Lauderdale campus on Saturday from 7am to 3pm for children ages 5 and under, whose parents are serving. Children MUST be pre-registered for childcare. Can I continue to serve after SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend?
We hope that everybody who participates in the SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend will continue to serve beyond the weekend. You will receive information about further service opportunities at the end of your service activity, or you can speak to the leader of your activity. Christ Church offers many service opportunities throughout the year and we would love to help you find a place to serve. For more information on how to serve through Christ Church, click here. Your project leader will contact you sometime before the weekend with instructions. In addition, you will be instructed on the activity when you arrive for your service.
What should I bring with me when I volunteer?
Your signed release and whatever items are listed on the web site for your activity. Most important, bring a servant's heart. Why is there only one worship service during SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend?
Service in the name of God is a very important form of worship. So, really, we are worshipping all weekend through our service. In addition, there is a community-wide worship service SERVE.EVERYBODY. weekend on Sunday at 5pm in the Sanctuary and we encourage all participants to attend. |
